These programs and services emphasize treatment that reduces problem behaviors while helping children and families meet their unique goals and plans. The Buckeye Ranch believes that all families have strengths, and those existing family strengths are an essential element in successful treatment. Family involvement is considered an important part of the treatment.
The Buckeye Ranch uses evidenced informed and evidenced based interventions to provide the best possible treatment options possible in a collaboration with parents and other systems. Our services provide children, teens, and families (5.5 years to 18) with comprehensive and individualized mental health and substance abuse. After thorough assessment and evaluation to determine treatment needs, services are offered that will best fit the needs of the family.
Children/ teens and their families that may benefit from professional services show signs which may include:
• School disruption or fights
• Changes in grades
• Attention Deficit Disorder and/or Hyperactivity
• Sexually inappropriate behavior (after evaluation)
• Exceptional shyness
• Impulsive behavior
• Changes in friends or has no friends
• Alcohol and/or drug use
• Eating or sleeping problems
• Running away
• Defiant
• Uncontrolled anger
• Excessive arguing about rules & curfew
• Self-harm or hurts others, cruelty to animals or property damage
Outpatient Services
Outpatient counseling provides help for children and families in one of our three office locations (Hilltop- West Columbus, Downtown, and Grove City). Professional therapists help children, teens and families learn to manage a variety of emotional or behavioral challenges, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity, behavioral difficulties at home or in school or the effects of trauma or abuse. Treatment services include individual, group, and family counseling
Homebased Services
Non-intensive
Non intensive services are provided one to two times a week to youth and families in their homes, school, and community. Staff are specifically trained to provide 24 hour crisis intervention and targeted interventions for families who are dealing with challenges of self harmful behavior, severe depression, aggression, substance abuse, trauma, and defiant behavior that places a child at risk for expulsion or school failure, out of home placement, or legal problems.
Intensive
Intensive family therapy services and 24 hour crisis services are provided 2- 4 hours a week to youth and families in their homes, school, and community to help families stay together. Staff are specifically trained clinicians who use target intervention to support families who are struggling with the challenges of severe family conflict, a return from residential treatment, foster care, inpatient substance abuse treatment or psychiatric hospitalization. Services are also available to families who are dealing with significant behaviors, substance abuse, and mental illness that place their child at risk for psychiatric hospitalization, residential treatment, legal involvement, and school failure.
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)
The Buckeye Ranch works specifically with Franklin County Children's Services, Franklin County Juvenile Court, and the Franklin County ADAMH board to provide an intensive (2-6 hours a week) evidenced based program with 24 hour crisis services to children and families who are struggling with the challenges of illegal behavior, substance abuse, oppositional behavior, and severe family conflict. Families must be referred through FCCS and the Family and Children First Council of Franklin County.
