The Buckeye Ranch is a private, non-profit provider that has been serving children and families in Ohio for over 55 years.  We offer a variety of programs and services for children and young adults, ages 0-21, and their families to assist them in dealing with mental health, emotional, behavioral, and substance use issues.

Each day, approximately 2,350 youth are in the care of The Buckeye Ranch, receiving services specifically designed to help them become more successful within their families, schools, and communities.

With 7 locations, over 500 dedicated staff, and a number of successful programs including Community-Based; Education-Based; Child Welfare/Children Services; Foster Care; Residential Services; Transition-Age Youth; Supervised Visitation and Exchange; and Adventure Therapy, we definitely have opportunities!

The Residential team is currently seeking an energetic, creative, and team-focused Residential Group Therapist to provide high-quality groups for all residential units. 

Working closely with the clinical team, schedules and conducts therapeutic group counseling, social skills groups, mental health groups, and substance abuse groups using a trauma-informed and compassionate approach while, also, meeting identified needs of individual youth, such as anger management and/or family or individual dysfunction. 

Takes appropriate initiative to manage crisis situations, including direct client intervention; appropriately provides or obtains assistance, as needed; and remains with crisis situations either through resolution or until relief is in place.

Completes and submits accurate documentation, on a timely basis, including incident reports and progress notes. 

Provides feedback to clinicians and/or coordinators, when necessary, and offers group coverage, as needed. 

Computer proficiency and excellent communication and listening skills are necessary for success in this position. 

Work schedule:  Work schedule is five 8-hour days, one of which is a weekend day.


Bachelor’s degree

Stae of Ohio LPC, LSW, or MFT license in good standing

At least one year of closely-related experience
