Admissions and Engagement

Our Admissions and Engagement ensures a seamless connection to services.

Admissions and Engagement

Admissions and Engagement greets our families by answering general questions, making referrals, completing assessments, and ensuring proper linkage to appropriate programs.

The department will guide families through the assessment process, which may include:

  1. Facilitation of a Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Assessment
  2. Administering a Diagnostic Assessment

The CANS assessment helps our team to determine OhioRISE coverage eligibility and Diagnostic Assessments allow our team to determine a youth and family needs in order to connect them with services that best support their healing journey.

This team also works with the State of Ohio, Ohio Jobs and Family Services, Franklin County Children Services, and more to facilitate services from direct referrals.

Same-Day Access helps youth and families receive services quickly and efficiently.

Same-Day Access

Our Same-Day Access services help youth and families gain access to OhioRISE coverage through CANS Assessments and eligibility screenings, as well as access to other programs provided by The Buckeye Ranch through Diagnostic Assessments and connection sessions for those experiencing waitlisted programs. Please call 614-384-7798 or email assessmentandengagement@buckeyeranch.org with any questions. See below for in-person walk-in hours and locations for Same-Day Access.

Same-Day Access Tips
  • A parent, caseworker, or current caregiver MUST be present for assessments.
  • For any changes after referral is submitted (i.e. custody changes, placement changes, etc.), please inform the Admissions and Engagement team directly!
  • Interpreting services are available upon request; the Same-Day Access team must be notified of needs in advance so we can schedule an interpreter.
Same-Day Access Referral and Program Connections
  • Community-Based Counseling Services (IFSP, FFT, MST IHBT): A client is placed on a waitlist after a diagnostic assessment. Then, the family will be contacted by a clinician once the case is assigned. Crisis & PFSN cases are assigned with priority.
  • Medication Services: Client must be linked with ongoing counseling services first, but once enrolled in services will have access.
  • Day Treatment Services: Client can be referred from a same-day access diagnostic assessment, but it does not guarantee acceptance/placement. Based on openings, Day Treatment will complete an additional interview with the client and work with the home school district.
  • Residential Questions: Same-Day Access cannot process a direct referral to residential services; please contact our Residential Admissions & Engagement team at ResidentialTeam@buckeyeranch.org.
