Child Welfare Services

ohio foster care services and transitional programming

At The Buckeye Ranch, the safety and well-being of children, youth, and families in the community are our top priorities. That’s why we provide a number of opportunities for children and families to get the assistance they need through our network of foster care families throughout the state of Ohio, our Transitional Age Youth housing programs, and our Permanent Family Solutions Network program, which provides case management and referrals to other programming within The Buckeye Ranch as needed.

permanent family solutions network

Permanent Family Solutions Network (PFSN) supports children’s services agencies within Franklin County with child protection and case management services for families in need. Our PFSN team works to ensure children who’ve experienced abuse, neglect, or other challenges within their family are supportedPFSN makes referrals to other child welfare services offered by The Buckeye Ranch, as well as by other organizations. PFSN focuses on supporting families to remain together through referrals, direct support and services, and connecting families to other community resources to support youth and families on their journey to healing.

foster care

Our Foster Care program provides a network of hundreds of foster homes in Ohio across nearly half the counties for children in need. We offer a substantial number of resources for foster families, as well as reimbursements to ensure they can afford to properly look after the children in their care. We also have plenty of information on what it’s like to be a foster parent working with The Buckeye Ranch, and make it simple to sign up.

The majority of our foster homes are treatment foster homes with foster parents that are trained with a culturally responsive and trauma-informed background, including Healing Alternatives for Youth (HAY), a specialized program developed by The Buckeye Ranch to provide support for foster youth needing an added layer of high-acuity mental health support who are experiencing placement disruptions.

transitional age youth

The Buckeye Ranch’s Transitional Age Youth programs, My Place and BRIDGES, are designed to support youth aging out of foster care with resources, such as community support, financial assistance, and transitional housing support, so they can be supported as they transition into adulthood.

My Place provides young adults ages 16-21 who are transitioning from foster care but still receiving support from a Public Children Service Agency with an independent living campus of 15 fully furnished, one-bedroom apartments and amenities, to learn advanced life skills and grow into the adults they were meant to be in their communities.

BRIDGES is hosted by the State of Ohio for young adults ages 18-21 to support youth’s need to learn self-sufficiency skills as they leave the child welfare system. The Buckeye Ranch supports coordination for youth through a personalized treatment plan, including educational attainment, financial counseling and assistance
