Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)

About our PRTF program

The Buckeye Ranch’s new Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) will be the first of its kind in the state of Ohio, benefitting clients through collaboration between the mental and behavioral health experts at The Buckeye Ranch and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. To date, no local program offers a mental health-focused care space for youth who need a middle ground for healing before returning home after psychiatric hospitalization.

The partnership will provide key mental health support via specially trained staff that will support local access to short-term, intensive residential treatment support after hospital discharge, offering increased family engagement to promote healing and stability for youth.

why it matters

Mental illness is one of the most pressing health issues of our time, and it has been exacerbated with the isolation and the stressors associated with the pandemic. In fact:

  • 1 in 5 U.S. children experience a mental health condition in a given year
  • 1 Ohioan under 18 years dies by suicide every 33 hours
located at 5665 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH
57,000 square feet
48 beds, 4 crisis stabilization rooms

how you can help

Our PRTF broke ground in January of 2024. The Buckeye Ranch is excited to get the project underway. So far, we have raised $20 million of the $35 million needed to complete the project and are looking for supporters to help us close the gap to bring the facility to life. We’re setting a goal to open our doors in summer 2025, but we cannot do it without YOUR support.

Interested in contributing to the project? Reach out to Abby Maenle, Director of Development, at amaenle@buckeyeranch.org or by calling 614-729-9673.
