The first step in getting services for your child is to contact the Admissions and Engagement Department to complete a referral. A referral can be made by completing our online referral form, contacting us at (614) 384-7798 to complete a referral by phone, or having a paper copy mailed to you with a return envelope. Once we have received your completed referral form, you and your child will be scheduled for a 1-1.5 hour assessment with one of our Assessment Clinicians. At this appointment, you will review your child’s history and current issues. Based on the assessment, the Assessment Clinician will then recommend your child and family for the Buckeye Ranch program that will be most helpful to you.

Yes! At one time in The Buckeye Ranch’s history, services were strictly for boys, but we started offering outpatient programs to girls in the 1980s. Today, every program at The Buckeye Ranch is offered to both males and females.

Some programs offer immediate access to families in need. However, for some programs, the need is so great that The Buckeye Ranch is forced to place potential families on a waiting list. Our Admissions and Engagemnt staff can work with you to try to provide the most appropriate level of care as soon as possible. Fees vary depending on the type of care needed. Some service costs are offset by Medicaid or the client’s local Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Board. No. Most referrals for residential treatment come through a county agency or through the court system. If you are interested in other services that The Buckeye Ranch offers, such as outpatient or community-based counseling, you are welcome to self-refer and can do so through our website referral form or via phone. For the most common services such as outpatient and community-based counseling, a referral from a doctor or other professional is not needed. Family members, parents, and caregivers are welcome to complete the referral for these services themselves. There are certain Buckeye Ranch services that will require a referral to come from a professional or agency. Yes, we have a team of skilled professionals to help manage your child’s psychiatric medications while they receive counseling services with us. They can begin receiving this service once they are linked with their ongoing clinician for therapy. We are unable to take referrals for families that only want medication management for their child and are not interested in receiving any other therapeutic services.
