By the time Nate was 14, life felt overwhelming. He was struggling with his mental health and searching for direction and hope. He’d had counselors for years, but he couldn’t find the words for the pain he was carrying, and nothing was sticking.
Nate didn’t need one more appointment. He needed someone who wouldn’t give up on him.
That person was Katie, a care coordinator at The Buckeye Ranch.
As their relationship grew, Nate finally started engaging in his treatment program. Now, at 19 years old, Nate holds a steady job and is saving for his first car and his own apartment. He says he’s becoming the person his younger self always hoped he’d be.
